HE MADE THE DIFFERENCE He was born in a stable in a little Jewish town The sun came up that morning and that evening it went down He was just another child as far as anyone could see (but) He made the difference for you and for me On a tree He bore the burden for every sinful man While His life told the story of the salvation plan Just a carpenter, as far as anybody knew (still) He made the difference for me and for you He made the difference When He made me whole He gave me a new heart When He saved my soul Now I'm a new man (and) The old one is gone To God be the glory He's the reason I carry on One night I opened up my heart (and) I asked the Savior in (and) He made the difference He washed away my sin (solo) He made the difference When He made me whole He gave me a new heart When He saved my soul Now I'm a new man (and) The old one is gone To God be the glory He's the reason I carry on He made the difference Yes, He made the difference © 2004 by Jerry Vanek

NO GREATER LOVE I didn't deserve it, Lord I was a sinner through and through Oh but You washed me clean When You made me a part of You Oh what a love You showed me The love of a true, blue Friend Oh what a gift You gave me When You died and rose again There is no greater love Than the love You have shown (and) The peace You give Is like I've never known You met me down on my knees You set me completely free There is no greater love Than Yours, for me This world is not my home It gets harder every day (but) Next to what You went through It's nothing but child's play (chorus) In all of history No greater love than Calvary... (chorus) © 2006 by Jerry Vanek

THAT'S BELIEVIN' When you can't see Where the road leads (and) You're searchin' for a sign Just remember That He's right there Keepin' everything in line He won't leave you or forsake you No, He's with you all the time... Not seeing, that's believin' No matter what you've heard You can trust Him, because He said so You can take Him at His Word Not seeing... that's believin' Though we don't know How the wind blows Still you and I can feel it So it is with God's Spirit Have a little faith and receive it He won't leave you or forsake you No, He's with you all the time... (chorus) Thomas doubted what they told him He said "Only when I see The scars of the nails in His hands Will I believe..." (and Jesus said...) Not seeing, that's believin' No matter what you've heard You can trust God, because He said so (and) That's according to His Word Not seeing...that's believin' (repeat chorus) © 2006 by Jerry Vanek

ONLY SAY THE WORD Lord I’ve sinned, and I have wandered From the straight, narrow way I have taken Your mercy for granted Like a sheep gone astray I have stumbled and I have fallen (and) My spirit is broken (but) I believe that I’ll be whole again The moment You have spoken Only say the word Only say the word Only say the word (and) Your servant… will live (instrumental break) Lord, we all come short of the glory That You have revealed We’re not worthy to receive You (but) A word and we’ll be healed Only say the word Only say the word Only say the word (and) Your servant… will live (and) Your children…will live (and) Your people…will live © 2006 by Jerry Vanek

One Man Can 02:57
ONE MAN CAN Back in the Bible when the Hebrews were in chains God heard them crying and He felt their every pain So He sent one man to let old Pharaoh know He said, "Moses, go and tell him to let my people go" One man can (yeah) It only takes one man Who can make a difference? One man can Down through the ages, ever since time began God called on someone to stand and be a man Like He did when Noah sailed for higher ground Like He did when David brought that giant down (chorus) When He calls you to do what's in His Word The battle has begun When everything is wrong, stand for what's right Though you're only one (man).... (solo) And God bless the ladies who did what He said to do There was Abigail and Esther, Rahab and Mary too One woman can One woman can Who can make a difference One man can One man can One man can... © 1997 by Jerry Vanek

The Way 04:12
THE WAY Forty years we’ve wandered On this weary, barren path Searching for the promised land You’ve been beside us With every step we take Through the burning, desert sand Manna from the heavens Water from the rock You’ve met every single need You’ve never failed us Even though we fail You Whenever we don’t believe There’s a land of milk and honey You said would be ours someday Guide us, Lord, through the wilderness (cause) We don’t know… the Way A cloud at daylight (and) A pillar of fire by night Showing us the right direction We’ve gone in circles On a never-ending journey Seeking our destination There’s a land of milk and honey You said would be ours someday Guide us, Lord, through the wilderness (cause) We don’t know… the Way © 2006 by Jerry Vanek / Elizabeth Jankowski

HOW LONG ON A WING AND A PRAYER? I've been longing for the answer to my prayer You keep telling me to wait On the promise of a life beyond compare Lord, I know You're never late Don't know why I would ever doubt you When I see what You have done (but) Somehow the answer won't come How long on a wing and a prayer How long til I get there How long til You come to take me home How long on a wing and a prayer Rain or shine I know You're there Through it all I know I'm not alone (but) How long on a wing and a prayer Don't know the hour or the day when You will come (but) I've been watching for the signs Lord, they tell me You complete what You've begun (and) You do it right on time Don't know how I could ever doubt you When I see what You have done (but) Somehow the answer won't come (chorus) I believe in the promise that You gave me Of a love that will save me... How long on a wing and a prayer How long til I get there How long til You come to take me home How long on a wing and a prayer Through it all I know You care On the cross You made this child Your own (but) How long on a wing and a prayer How long on a wing and a prayer How long on a wing and a prayer © 2004 by Jerry Vanek

Jericho Road 03:16
JERICHO ROAD You've heard the story of the man who was left for dead Someone saw him lying there and went on instead Then another man chanced near, and seeing him, he fled Down Jericho Road Jericho Road It's a long, hard way down Jericho Road Jericho Road Jericho Road It's a long, hard way down Jericho Road A stranger came along and tended to the wounded man (and) Restored him back to life again with a helping hand He was a true neighbor, passing through, from another land (chorus) Perilous roads we must travel Constant danger all around He won't leave us in the hour of need As we lie bleeding on the ground You've heard the story of the man who was left for dead... © 2004 by Jerry Vanek

LET THERE BE LOVE In the beginning when God made it all From the stars to the fish in the sea The Lord had a plan for the woman and man (and) This is how it came to be (well) Adam discovered what loneliness was When He gave all the animals names Then God brought to him a lifetime companion (and) Neither of them knew any shame (and God said...) Let there be love Let there be children Let there be a family (and) Let them go forth, and multiply, on the earth... Let there be love The Lord God knew that the man and the woman Would fall away from His grace So He made a way in the form of His Son To save the whole human race From the fall of man to the birth of the Savior It was clear we couldn't save ourselves Only the Son who never knew sin Could die for everyone else (and God said...) Let there be love Let there be Jesus Let there be Calvary Let Him die, on the cross, for the people Even though Some would say "no" To the gift of eternal life Still, the provision was made Let there be love Let there be Jesus Let there be salvation (and) On the third day, let Him rise, from the dead... Let there be love Let there be love Let there be love © 2005 by Jerry Vanek

EVEN JESUS GOT THE BLUES He came down from heaven to walk in mankind's shoes He came to earth to tell us the very best of news (but) The people wouldn't listen though He gave them little clues He was glory incarnate but even Jesus got the blues When Lazarus was dying He said "he's just asleep" (but) When He stood beside the gravesite The Lord began to weep He came down from heaven to walk in mankind's shoes He came to earth to tell us the very best of news (but) The people wouldn't listen though He gave them little clues He is joy beyond measure but even Jesus got the blues He was praying in the garden and As He cried, He bled He asked His friends to listen (but) They went to sleep instead He came down from heaven to walk in mankind's shoes He came to earth to tell us the very best of news (and) To drink that cup of sufferin' - my God, He paid some dues He was the man of sorrow - even Jesus got the blues (solo) He came down from heaven to walk in mankind's shoes He came to earth to tell us the very best of news (but) The people wouldn't listen though He gave them little clues He is joy beyond measure but even Jesus got the blues © 1999 by Jerry Vanek

One Day 03:08
ONE DAY One day out of the new week We kneel down and pray We thank the Lord on bended knee (and) Then we go away What about the rest of the week What are we doing then Re-writing all His rules (and) Breaking them again One day every seven is not enough to know One hour every week is not enough to grow (but) Every little bit helps One day out of the old year We give to those we love We make ourselves feel better (but) We never give enough What about the rest of the year We never gave a thing (or) Just enough to get us by What little we could bring One day each December is not enough to show One moment every year doesn't make it so No, it's only an example Of the way that things could be Each and every day One day is not enough to know One hour is not enough to grow One day is not enough to show One moment doesn't make it so © 1987 By Jerry Vanek

The Word 04:21
THE WORD The Word of God became like you and me The Word was God - He spoke and it came to be He made it all - the planets and the stars (but) He’s there for you, no matter who you are He sent His Son Jesus, to save you At Calvary, what a gift He gave you Once and for all, He paid the price for sin (but) To save your soul, He’d do it all again He is the Word and the Word of God is true He cared enough to give His life for you He made it all the planets and the stars (but) He’s there for you, no matter where you are He will return and His Kingdom will have no end We’ll reign with Him, in Heaven, forever and ever and ever… He is the Word - the Word of God He is the Word - the Word of God © 2011 by Jerry Vanek / Lisa Webb

about

“Out Of The Wilderness”, was recorded in Antioch, Tennessee, at my friend Chris Sanders’ studio, featuring the same core group of musicians that I had the pleasure of working with on my two previous albums, “Worlds Apart” and “Back To Basics”.

I am a Christian, and these are songs of faith that I’ve written over the years, many of which were personal favorites of my Mother, Nancy.

The theme of the album has to do with the personal journey that each of us embarks on when we choose to follow Jesus. A journey that is often replete with spiritual danger, trials, tribulations and opposition. It is my hope that these songs help to provide some small measure of comfort and reassurance to you, the listener, in your daily journey.

And if you find yourself struggling through life and you don’t know Him, allow me to quote from a musical hero of mine, Larry Norman:

“Why don’t you check into Jesus?”

Enjoy!
